RE: Campground Electricity

Keep nockin!
I was a Firefighter for 30 years.
Never met anyone who *expected* to have a fire.
Lots of accidents. (vehicles & other types).
Never met anyone who *expected* to have an accident.
(Probably why they're called "accidents", huh!)
Met some who were prepared (for either event) - some not.
I've never had a true "flat" either. Have discovered
road damage "in time".
Progressive Industries EMS - will detect electrical "damage"
(problems) "in time".
BTW - lots more grief replacing damaged appliances in your trlr
than a flat tire.
JC. Your point is well-taken. As I have recently invested in a new 5th wheel I will take your advice, and have a look at the Progressive Industries EMS or others like it. I may never need it, but 'you never know'.

RE: Campground Electricity

Am I lucky or what? I have been camping for 30+ years. We have camped in 22 states, all Canadian Provinces & Territories. We have just returned from a 3 month trip up north. I have never had a surge protector! Never experienced a problem, knock on wood. Maybe it is something I should look at. But then again, never had a flat tire either and yet I carry a spare!
Cheers.

RE: Question about towing an 05 Cougar

Hi Dan. Slightly off topic, ensure the dometic refrigerator (if it has such) in this trailer is not one of the ones under recall. See the sticky or go to http://www.dometic.com/enus/Americas/USA/RV-Products/RV-News/Dometic-Recall-Information/

RE: Duro Tires, get rid of them?

On May 15th we picked up our cougar with Duro tires. On May 27th we left home on our 'shakedown trip'. We have traveled the following highways: Alaskan, Dempster, Top of the World, Cassiar, Glacier, Yellowhead, Gold, Caribou & others. We are way over 12000kms now and if any of you have traveled those highways, you will know that on some of them vehicles & tires take a beating. So far we have had no problems with our Duro tires. I always check every couple of days to make sure the tires are at the 65psi called for. And I torque the wheels every few weeks. We plan on arriving home at the end of the month, and knock on wood, the duros will hold up just fine.
cheers!

RE: On The Road To Alaska

Well here we are in Whitehorse. We left Red Deer on the 27th of May and have only gotten this far! All the side trips! (chetwynd & Bennett dam were highlights) We had planned on staying in Whitehorse a day or two. So far we have been here 5 days, so much to do! going to go up the dempster highway in the next week or two. Then back to dawson city and over the top of the world, and on in to Alaska. After that??? Just want to say I find this forum invaluable for advice and road conditions etc.. what a great forum!!

RE: W.A.C. Bennett Dam

Hi all, a 'must see' side trip. Highway 29 is a great road with great scenery. The dam site is mind boggling! They take you by bus into the dam and then a walking tour! A huge power centre with lots going on. By the way there were a few motorhomes on hiway 29, and more than a few 'big' 5th wheels. Weasel4, it must have been exciting working on the dam back then.

W.A.C. Bennett Dam

Have any of you Alaska Highway travelers visited the dam? It is located off of the Alaska highway, northwest of Dawson Creek I believe. It is one of the biggest hydroelectric dams in the world. Where did you camp? Thanks

RE: Sorry Canada

Well I look at it this way, We have planned this trip north to Alaska for a long time. The price of gas may be going up, but then again so is my age! Think about it.
We are leaving on Tuesday. Watch for our rv.net sticker! I also monitor 146.52 (va6gl).

RE: Installing a ShurFlow Power Vent

What a coincidence mrdave! I with a friends help installed one in a 2008 Couger today. It is not difficult if you take your time. We mounted it in the bedroom. We taped into the power at the light about a foot away from the opening. The only difficult part was after we took out the previous vent, removing the 'old' buttle. After that it went quickly. We mounted the holder for the remote next to the control for the furnace/ac. Good luck!

RE: Microsoft worried because Vista isn't being pirated.

This is a very interesting topic. I have been around since the early DOS days, 3.2 or so, every time an upgraded system comes along. we get the same discussions. It doesn't matter whether the upgrade is better or not. It is human nature,, it is called the R2C factor. Resistance to Change. Whats my point? None, I just find it very intriguing.

RE: Dinosaur PP questions

Hi. I can assure you that even with the restricted area (which is accessable through tours) there are a great number of places to climb and hike immediately adjacent to the campground. It is a terrific place to camp & explore.

RE: Stinky Hot Water

Drgriz, A few years ago I experienced the exact same problem. I took the steps as suggested by TMMAR, and this immediately cleared up the problem. By the way it is not a bad idea to do this every year or two for the short time it takes. Good Luck.
